Bates Dairy, Southport
Also as photographer in residence at Southport Art's Centre In 1987, I spent some time at Bates Dairy, a family run business that was founded in 1939. At the time, the cows were led down from the local fields and in to the milking shed. The milk was then transferred to the processing and bottling plant, eventually being loaded on to its fleet of electric milk floats to be delivered throughout the Southport area. Bates farms and dairy is still in the hands of the Bates family today and continues to thrive.
Commissioned by Sefton Council and exhibited at the Atkinson Art Gallery, Southport, 1987.
